Red nose day soon Yesterday by request of the kids we went to Sainsburys so that they could buy a red nose. Eddie pointed out that it was a long way to go just for a red nose and this prompted a discussion about long distances you could go on to get something small such as you could go to the moon to get a piece of rock. We once met some people on the train to skeggy who were going there for a bag of chips and then go home. Anyway, we did do some food shopping in Sainsburys as well. They have both named their red nose. Naomi called hers Thomas and Eddie called his carbon-di-oxide. He didn't know what it was he just thought it sounded cool.

It's the middle of the night I'm going to bed in a minute but I just wanted to say, Eddie can swim now. Without armbands and everything. I am over the moon. Naomi can swim with armbands now, which is an achievement in itself as for a long time, she wouldn't let go of me when she was in the swimming pool.
I had a funny experience with okcupid that I wanted to write about but I think bed is probably a better option.

**VA** Pancake day today and I did my usual thing of eating so many pancakes that I wanted to give them up for lent at the very least, if not that until next year. Naomi enjoyed making them and Eddie enjoyed eating them.
In other news, I seem to have developed weird sleeping patterns again.

Snow again This time the snow was so heavy school was shut and work was shut too.
Repaired the old sledge we had as kids. Had a pleasant enough day at home with the kids then went to Jayne's to go sledging with the kids. By that time a lot of the snow had melted so it wasn't really ideal. Had a good snowball fight with the kids. Ruth and Grace came too.
Despite all this for some reason I don't feel like explaining I feel really depressed again today...
Got nowt against chick flicks but I can't help wondering if "he's just not that into you" is as rubbish as it sounds. Maybe I'll have to go and see it just to find out.

I've just eaten loads of chocolate balls They weren't salty tho. Just thought you'd all like to know that. Later I am going to pick up the walnuts from the garden. The other day we went chestnut picking and found plenty. Lots of nuts about at the mo. This post sounds like one big innuendo doesn't it. I can assure you that it isn't tho.

Poor Joe Went to the zoo (twycross) this weekend, Naomi loved it, Eddie kept hassling me to get his game boy out of the car. Anyway I have some really sad news, Joe the big gorilla has died. He was 45. He was one of the highlights of visiting the zoo. He used to watch neighbours on the tv in his cage, which I found amusing.
In other news, survived a training course today. Am tired now so I guess I'll disappear for a bit.

Don't try this at home. Today I have painted one side of a shelf in Naomi's room. I realise this is a very heavy workload so I'm urging you all not to try and keep up with me. I don't want to be responsible for any injuries.

It's warmed up a bit... The pipes to the washing machine have thawed and it appears to work. I saw a slug today, so unfortunately the cold hasn't killed them all.
Eddie and Naomi are in Jersey with their dad. They come back on Sunday.

Long time no see (by my usual standards anyway) Eddie asked for a desk in his bedroom the other day to put his laptop on (a kids educational thingy, not a real one). It shows how he is growing up. I bought Naomi a Thomas laptop off e-bay and it doesn't work properly, either that or I don't know how to work it, but how difficult can it be to work a 3 year olds toy. I was really disappointed on her behalf because Eddie loves his and plays on it loads and she wants to do the same but can't.
Have been talking about decorating the bedroom for Naomi. She understands that she will have to move out of my room and she seems ok with it. She knows what she wants, Dora the explorer and fairies. I shall start working on it as soon as I get some energy of an evening and get over my scrabulous obsession. Either that or scrabulous will get shut down. This is one of the main reasons why I haven't posted in a while. That and not having much to say.

Eddie's profound political comment Eddie asked me who the last prime minister was, then he asked me who the current prime minister is. Then he said he likes Gordon Brown better. When I asked why he said "because he has a better name". So I suppose now he is up to the level of most of the voting British public.
Naomi started saying the name of a boy at nursery a lot. When I asked if he was her friend she said "no, he kills me and Caitlyn". Regularly apparently.

Space Centre Went to the Space centre in Leicester today. Big Steve was visiting friends in Leicester so he met us there. Eddie loved it. Naomi liked it a bit. They had a doctor who exhibition which had a dalek that exterminates you. It was bigger than me, it pointed it's sink plunger at me flashed some lights and said exterminate and I fell over. For real as well, not just a comedy fall over children's benefit. Good job there were only the kids watching at that point. Big Steve had gone early because he wanted to catch Long Eaton Superdrug before it shut. I felt dead guilty because I told him the trains were 43 minutes past the hour and they were actually 24 minutes past the hour, so he left earlier than he would normally and then would have had a half hour wait for the train. He probably walked past the Leicester Superdrug on the way to the station and thought "I won't go in because I have to catch the train".
Anyone got any ideas of somewhere that Naomi would really love to go and that Eddie would like a bit to even the balance?

Eddie's teeth Another of Eddie's teeth fell out yesterday. Someone from school told him that the tooth fairy isn't real and that it was really me giving him the money. He couldn't understand why I would want to collect teeth and be willing to pay a pound for each one, but he didn't question it too much cos he knew he was onto a good thing. Then he had a cunning plan. "So mummy, where do you keep your collection of teeth?" he said. Right at the top of the walnut tree. 419eaters eat your heart out.

Maggot Pete Did anyone hear about this bloke called maggot Pete aged 72 who headed up a gang of people who bought meat classified unfit for human consumption and sold it on to Tesco's and other supermarkets, schools and nursing homes? They made over a million pounds and when they got caught he went on the run for 4 years until they finally caught up with him in a luxury home in Cyprus. I can just imagine him trying to justify his crimes to himself by saying "eee when I was a lad me mam used to scrape the maggots off the meat and cook it for Sunday dinner. It never did me any harm." Times like this I'm glad to be a vegetarian.

Eddie's tooth Eddie's had his first wobbly tooth last night and it fell out this morning. It bled. I'm sure I don't remember my teeth bleeding when they fell out when I was little. Mind you I think he wobbled his tooth harder than I used to do. I remember it taking 2 or 3 days before a wobbly tooth fell out. He has heard tales of the tooth fairy from school. I think that's what gave him the sense of urgency to get the tooth out. What is the going rate for the tooth fairy these days? Eddie says 5 or 10 pounds, but I think he is trying his luck a bit there. Another boy from his school gets 2 pounds per tooth. I got 10p per tooth as a kid maybe 20p for the later teeth. Karen said she got 5p. (The pound sign doesn't work on my new computer. When I set it up the computer recommended I choose the standard american keyboard and it has no pound sign on it and the @ sign is shift 2. Anyway I digress - back to the original point before I start swearing at the Americans or my own stupidity while setting up the computer).
