Can't believe it. I wrote loads and it's just lost it all. How do I get back previous drafts?
My fat diaries part 2|
This weekend me and Naomi did the 5k parkrun in Markeaton park. This was our first run with a barcode, so we got times. With it being new year, I suspect it was busier than usual. It was 2 laps and we got lapped by the winner just as we were getting to the end of the first lap. We pretty much ran all of it apart from walking up the hill on the second lap. Naomi was running on ahead for most it but part way through the second lap she started to need coaxing to get round. I think that's her age showing. Just before the final corner Naomi was about ready to give up, but she got round it and saw the finish line and sprinted for the finish, overtaking someone in the process so she came 367th and I came 369th. We both got times of around 36 mins. As we got near the finish line there were loads of people who had already finished clapping and cheering everyone who went through and it felt a bit like i was some kind of celebrity. I noticed that one of the volunteers came last and I wondered if they did that on purpose so that the person who actually came last didn't feel so bad. The parkrun people encourage you to have drinks at the cafe afterwards to make it seem more sociable and friendly, so we did. It was while I was drinking my latte and Naomi had her hot chocolate (she was gutted she didn't notice they had schmoo milkshake until after she'd ordered the hot choc), that I noticed a red patch on one of my trainers. I took it off and there was a blister underneath that had bled. One of the other runners who was more experienced than me said that it was because my socks were too thin and I needed to get proper running socks or wear 2 pairs of normal socks.
Today Helen (one of my cycling friends) invited me to a couch to 5k running group that had started up in our village, so we went to that. 25 people in total came and that was way more than they expected. I wonder how many will finish the 9 weeks. I felt a bit of a fraud as I can already run 5k, although only just and not in a particularly good time. At least I won't be worried that won't be able to do 5k in 9 weeks time, so that takes a bit of the pressure off. We ran a bit but mostly did a brisk walk.
This journal is fast turning into a my fat diary and if it continues in that way I might do as public version and see if I can get followers as it's a subject that a lot of people are interested in. It is also preferable to my previous trend of writing depressed posts or talking about how ill my mum is, cos that will upset me.

How the other half live|
Yesterday we went for a free family day-trial at David Lloyd fitness centres. We could never normally afford the membership to one of these places. It's £70 a month for adult membership and £20 per child, so it was nice to be able to have a go. We went into the swimming pool first. Eddie was really annoyed that kids weren't allowed in the steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, gym or the outside pool except between 11am and 3pm. He was actually quite grumpy for a lot of the time we were in the pool. Naomi loved it tho. In the outside pool, Naomi actually took her armbands off and attempted to swim. She managed about 3 strokes, which is a good start. She had got to the stage where she's a pretty competent swimmer with armbands, she can swim lengths wearing them, but she's always been afraid to take them off, so even trying to swim is a step forward. As with Eddie she was the only person in her class at this age who couldn't swim. All the other parents seem to take their children to swimming lessons at a young age. Eddie taught himself and he's a good swimmer now.
We had some dinner there and it was not really very good. I had a dried up pasta dish and Eddie said his chicken was ok but not great. Naomi refused to eat her sausage and mash, so Graham ate it and he said it was nice. They both refused to eat their broccoli and I thought they were being fussy, but when I tried it, it was actually disgusting.
After dinner we played a bit of tennis, it was outdoors and it was quite sunny by then so it was very pleasant. Then we played a bit of badminton. Graham even joined in, even tho he isn't moving very well at the moment. I think he enjoyed it anyway. I discovered that Eddie really likes racquet sports and I must make time to do them with him more often. He is a similar standard to me at badminton, so we get a good game. Naomi got a bit restless after a while and wanted to go swimming again. As soon as we did Eddie got grumpy again, so the day didn't end very well really.
That write up looks more like a consumer review than a journal post. It reminds me of when I used to write for a consumer site. I really enjoyed that actually. There was a good community of people and we all used to read each others reviews and they began to feel like friends. Sadly a lot of us stopped when they changed the payment structure from 2p per read to 1p per read but only on certain categories of reviews. I a wish I wish I'd stayed. It wasn't really about the money. Dunno if I even claimed most of mine. Maybe I'll go and see if I can still sign in...

We saw Mars and Jupiter tonight. It was amazing.
Me and Eddie have rediscovered fig rolls recently. We googled fig rolls while eating them tonight and found out some amazing fig roll facts which I am going to share with you lucky people today. Apparently footballers eat them at half time these days, instead of oranges. There was also a fig roll shortage a few years ago caused by a drought in Turkey which severely affected the fig harvest and Sainsburys had to put notices on their shelves, apologising for the lack for fig rolls. There was also a legal battle in which Jacobs claimed that McVities were copying their fig roll packet design. If I knew anything at all about flash programming I would get Nicks spot the difference game and change the pictures for a Jacobs fig roll packet and a McVities fig roll packet and players could spot the differences between the two. I personally think the Bolands fig roll packet is a far closer copy of the Jacobs version. We were eating Bolands fig rolls today. They were packaged in piles of 3 and they always seem to stick together so 3 always come out at once. Which suits us just fine.

I always thought I was weirder than that. I guess I'm just to busy to be having weird and wonderful interests.
Kids have gone to their dads this weekend. We went to see Nick in Wirksworth. We had a nice curry in Matlock. Was good food and ott decor. There was a tuc tuc on top of the porch and a massive elephant head on the sign. There were rose petals all the way up the stairs and the waiters were dressed like indian princes. We'd definitely go back. After that we went to Nicks knitting club at the Royal Oak. I made a hippo. The green hippo is one someone else knitted but she gave it to me to sew together.
The thing about knitting in a pub was that I was so absorbed with getting this hippo knitted that I didn't drink very much. I had 1 and a half pints all night and one of them was in the indian. Was pleased to see Chris Dixon and meet his new woman.
Naomi had dancing exams recently and got a distinction in both the ballet and tap. I was very proud. Eddie was pleased for her as well which is an extra bonus.
Eddie has been fighting a lot with his friend Bradley recently. Bradley is supposed to be coming for tea on Tuesday. I am wondering whether or not I should cancel.

Am soo stressed. The notice on the tenancy has expired. She has had over 3 months to leave and she still hasn't gone. The council have advised her to stay on until I get a court order for her to leave and they won't help her find a new place until she gets one. I am absolutely disgusted that the council are actively encouraging tenants to stay in a place after their notice has expired. Effectively they are encouraging them to stay somewhere they are no longer legally entitled to be. I have been so upset about it and have written to her , the homless section of the. council and my MP. I just want this sorted.
I can't sleep|
So I thought I'd have a read of everyones journals and do a little update. I am at my parents house and I can hear a boiler which sounds like someone snoring very loudly. That's not why I can't sleep. It can't be heard in the bedroom, only down here.
Have spent lots of time at home and now feel the need to go places more. On new years eve we went to see a pantomime, Aladdin with Jaynes family. It was at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham and had famous people. Graham at first was horrified at spending that kind of money on a pantomime but he loved it and after it had finished he said we should do it every year, possibly even pay more for better seats. Eddie liked it more than he expected to. Naomi was scared of the bad guy and clung very tightly to me and hid whenever he came on stage. She was surprised to see children on stage and said that she wanted to be in a pantomime.
I was pleased to hear Russell, Max and Adrian had all got a build a bear. Adrian called his Naomi. Eddie and Naomi have got build a bears too and when Eddie took his to his dads, Melvy laughed at him for having a teddy bear at his age (9) . She said bears were for girls or younger boys.
After the pantomime we went to TGI Fridays and the kids were all still running around playing after we had paid the bill and the waiter joked that we should leave them there and they could help out in the kitchen. The next thing we knew Eddie and Russell were being escorted out of the kitchen area after they went in there to offer to help with the cooking.
Eddie and Naomi both wanted to stay up until midnight to see the new year in. We watched a film called Thunderpants that Graham had videod. It was about a boy who trumps a lot. It was quite funny. Naomi fell asleep on the chair at 9. Eddie finally saw man v food and liked it as much as I do. Eddie did manage to stay awake until midnight. We watched the firework display by the London eye and went home. The sky was full of those lanterns drifting along and although we had a quiet new year, nothing wild or anything, it was still up there as one of the good new years.
Anyway I'm going to attempt to get back to sleep now. Lol.
